Here are some feedback I received via email from those who read The Art of Surfcasting with Lures book
Hey Zeno,
I picked up your book a couple weeks back and am slowly getting may way through it. I say slowly b/c I keep re-reading sections and making notes for myself. My transition into a plug-aholic started this year and I have learned so much from your book so far and I'm only half way through it. I find myself trying to read currents, waves, wind, depth, cresting water, rips, white foam, etc... all the time now. I believe the conditions of central connecticut shoreline are different than the N or S shores of LI, but none the less; I am trying to incorporate your book to the CT shoreline. Again thanks again for putting together such a great book. Kevin from CT via email
Just wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I enjoyed your book!
I received it as a Christmas present and have read it three times already.
With each read I gain a bit more knowledge. I now reside in PA but continue
to drive up to CT and RI when time permits to wet the line. (grew up in CT)
When I catch my 50 I'll shoot you a photo. I keep a camera with me at all
times while in the suds! Thanks again for a great book!
Regards, Doug O'Connor
I just wanted to tell you while on vacation in Kittery, Maine this weekend I
picked up a copy of your book at the trading post. I absolutely love it. It
is one of the best books I have ever read and a lot of the things you do
with bucktails I can convert into fly-fishing. I also love the way you
describe the structure and strategies. If you write another book, I will be
first in line to buy it!

I just finished your book
and I can't thank you enough for deciding to write it. I subscribe to the
New Jersey Angler magazine and I say it featured there. The
knowledge you impart, not to mention your wit, is priceless. I live
in Philly and only get down the shore for vacation and once or twice more a
year if I'm lucky, so your book alone saves me COUNTLESS hours of trial and
error. I've had luck fishing the inlets but the breakdown and detail you
give to everything makes it so much clearer and easier to adjust to whatever
the circumstances I am up against. I will also try the surf this year
with actual confidence this year. I will recommend this book to anyone
who'll listen and I'm also going to tell the owners of our local tackle
shop (Brinkman's) about it. If they don't already know it. Thanks again
for deciding to share your hard earned knowledge and secrets with others. This
book would help ANYONE who fishes the shore at all, whether occasionally or
all the time. I think it should be required reading for all the time and aggravation
you'd save people!! Tom Weightman Zeno, I just finished reading
your book and it is awesome. I'm not a "pat on the back" kinda
guy, but you deserve it. Jim Ardito
Zeno,
I have been reading your book The Art of Surfcasting With Lures and
want to let you know directly how much I am enjoying it. As my family would be
only too happy to tell you, I have a considerable collection of fishing books. Some
of them are very good and some are not, but your book is a real treat to read,
as well as extremely informative. I find myself thinking that I
really should be underlining or highlighting the book's strategies and
lessons -- there are so many good points persuasively made that I doubt I
can remember them all.
Maybe I will underline or highlight the second time I read the book!
I also appreciate the humor and the anecdotes. This is true especially
since, unlike in some fishing writing, these stories serve to illustrate as
well as entertain: it's not just one story after another. This is a book which
really lives up to its claim to educate as well as entertain.
Thanks!
Kind regards,
Jim Olson
Hi
Zeno..... I was in Scott's Bait/Tackle shop down here in Bradley Beach,
NJ, when a sample "The Art of Surfcasting with Lures" came in.
I browsed through it and immediately couldn't stop reading it, so I told them
they should definitely order some to sell. I bought one as soon as
they got them in and couldn't put the book down since I got it. I
just finished it and had to let you know it was the BEST surf fishing book I
have read. I'm
57 and my neighbor got me into Striper Fishing this summer and I love it.
I read 3 books just prior to yours, but yours was fantastic. I
haven't giving up trying to get that big one even though it's December and I
will be re-reading your book again when the Spring season is upon us. Your
last chapter fishing with kids was a touching ending too, because I'm a single
full time dad of a 14 yr old daughter and it's great doing things together. Thanks
again Zeno for a wonderful book!!! Larry
Feinberg Zeno, You
have put into words a lot of things that I have felt true but have not seen or
heard form other sources. The thing I like/respect most of all about your book,
yours in one of the first surf fishing book that tell the reader how to, through
stories, situations, or close friends. I've only found this kind of book
available in saltwater fly-fishing. I recommend your book to everyone
I know. Its funny, there’s a lot of plugs on the market, but there
are not many books to let the surfcaster know which one may swim or be more
effective in different conditions. There are a lot of guys without the
experience, that will use lets say a Surfster in horrible conditions.
Instead of going to a plug that’s a little more stable. Unfortunately,
they just don't know which one may serve them best. But you've let them
know with your well written book. Peter Mueller, Just wanted to thank you again. Great book and it will be a well used tool. I learned a lot and can't wait to learn more! Chris via email |
